2024 Skytrax Awards: Ethiopian Voted ‘Best Airline in Africa,’ LIFT Debuts as ‘Best Low-Cost Airline’
Ethiopian wins Africa's Best Airline for the 7th consecutive year
The 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony was held at the Fairmont Windsor Park, near London Heathrow Airport on June 24, 2024.
Ethiopian Airlines (ET) dominated the Africa region’s categories, winning ‘Best Airline in Africa’ for the seventh year in a row. Ethiopian also won ‘Best Business Class,’ ‘Best Economy Class,’ and ‘Best Economy Class Onboard Catering’ in Africa for 2024.
In a noteworthy debut, newcomer LIFT Airlines (GE) emerged as Africa’s ‘Best Low-Cost Airline’ for 2024.
On the global scale, Qatar Airways achieved the World’s Best Airline for the eighth time in the award’s 25-year history.

Skytrax has emphasised that these awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” have been independently organised since 1999.
Adding that the survey costs and awards event are fully funded by the organisers, ensuring impartiality and transparency.
