The main runway of Cape Town International Airport (CPT) was temporarily closed on the afternoon of October 12, 2023, due to an aircraft that developed technical issues – as confirmed by the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA).
The closure happened just after 14:00 local time and affected both arrival and departure flights.
“ACSA expects cleanup operations to be completed shortly during which time the main runway will remain closed. We would like to apologise to all our customers and stakeholders for any inconvenience caused.”
