Air Congo Set to Launch Operations December 2024
Kinshasa to Welcome New Airline, Partnering with Ethiopian Airlines
Kinshasa-based carrier Air Congo is poised to launch operations in early December 2024, according to local media reports.
The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo holds a majority stake (51%) in the startup carrier, while Ethiopian Airlines (ET) holds a 49% stake.
Air Congo follows the success of Ethiopian’s joint ventures with Togo’s ASKY, Zambia Airways, and Malawi Airlines. This strategic partnership will provide Air Congo with access to Ethiopian Airlines’ resources—including aircraft.
According to Aero Routes, Air Congo has filed an operational schedule in the OAG for services starting as early as December 1, 2024. Initially, Boeing 737-800 aircraft will operate under Ethiopian Airlines’ ET-coded flight numbers.
