Air India & Air Mauritius Expand Codeshare Partnership
The enhanced partnership sees 17 routes across India, Mauritius, South Africa, Réunion, and Madagascar, aiming to streamline travel between the regions

Air India and Air Mauritius (MK) have announced an expanded codeshare partnership, set to enhance air connectivity across the Indian Subcontinent and the African region.
The agreement was finalised during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, attended by Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India, and Kishore Beegoo, Chairman, Air Mauritius.
Expanded Route Network and Code Placement
The reinforced bilateral agreement will involve both airlines placing their designator codes on a total of 17 routes, connecting destinations in India, Mauritius, Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar.
Air India
Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Air Mauritius flights to and from Cape Town and Johannesburg (South Africa), and Antananarivo (Madagascar).
This arrangement, as noted by the carriers, allows for streamlined travel for Air India passengers via Mauritius on a single ticket with checked baggage. Air India already codeshares on Air Mauritius services between Mauritius and Mumbai, Delhi, and Réunion.
Air Mauritius
Air Mauritius will extend its ‘MK’ code placement on Air India flights, including services between Mauritius and Mumbai.
This addition complements existing codeshare routes between Mumbai and various Indian cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Goa, and between Delhi and Bengaluru, Chennai.
As a result, all flights operated by Air India and Air Mauritius between the two countries will now carry each other’s designator codes.
This, as the airlines indicate, aims to multiply travel options for customers of both carriers. The additional codeshare flights are available for booking from July 1, 2025.
