Air Mauritius Dismisses Claims of Shutdown
Air Mauritius Expects Positive Results for 2025/26
Air Mauritius (MK) has dismissed claims regarding the possible shutdown of the airline, labelling them as “falsely reported by a clickbait website.”
In a statement issued on March 31, 2025, the airline reassured stakeholders, including passengers, that there has “never been any question of shutting down the national airline.”
Support Measures Address Financial Challenges
Acknowledging its current financial challenges, Air Mauritius emphasised the actions taken by its parent company, Airport Holdings Ltd (AHL), to provide support.
According to the statement, “AHL has converted a shareholders’ loan of MUR 8.047 billion into equity,” while also providing “a firm and binding commitment for financial support as and when required.”
The airline further stated that it has implemented efficiency measures to improve its performance and confidently noted that it is expecting “positive results for 2025/26.”
