Air Tanzania (TC) has taken a significant step in its fleet expansion strategy with the delivery of its first Boeing 737-9 aircraft.

The new aircraft registered as 5H-TCP and christened “Olduvai Gorge,” arrived at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) on October 3, 2023, to a water cannon salute. Senior government officials and airline representatives attended the event.

Expanding Horizons: A Strategic Investment

This delivery is part of an order placed during the Dubai Airshow 2021, where Air Tanzania ordered one Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, one Boeing 767-300 Freighter, and two Boeing 737 MAX jets.

The order aims to expand service from Tanzania to new markets across Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Earlier in 2023, Air Tanzania took delivery of its first Boeing 767 freighter. The freighter is set to support the expanding import and export industry that requires timely delivery, thereby boosting national economic growth.
