The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced recovery in air travel demand continued based on January 2023 traffic results.

The Total traffic in January 2023 (measured in RPKs) rose 67.0% compared to January 2022. Globally, traffic is now at 84.2% of January 2019 levels.

African airlines’ traffic rose 124.8% in January 2023 versus a year ago. January capacity was up 82.5% and the load factor climbed 13.9 percentage points to 73.7%, the lowest among regions.
