Airbus Announces New Cabin Features for A220 Family Aircraft

On June 6th, 2023, at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Airbus announced new cabin features for its A220 Family aircraft.

The key new feature is the Airspace XL Bin, provided by Diehl Aviation, set to offer many advantages, including increased baggage capacity, lighter weight, and an improved passenger experience. Airbus also revealed other enhancements to the A220 Family aircraft, including a redesigned and improved passenger service unit (PSU), provided by Astronics, and an enhanced ceiling that conveys the Airspace design language. An optional third LED light is available under the new bins, significantly contributing to the cabin atmosphere.

According to an Airbus, the new A220 Airspace XL Bins, which will become available from 2025 and will be retrofittable, offer increased capacity of around 19 more passenger bags (on the A220-300), as well as accommodate longer and heavier payload items thanks to its four-frame design.
