Airbus’ Global Market Forecast 2023 (GMF) projects that Africa will receive 1180 new aircraft deliveries between 2023 and 2042. According to the GMF released in June 2023, approximately 75% of these deliveries, or 885 aircraft, will be single-aisle, while the remaining 25%, or 295 aircraft, will be widebody family.

Globally, Airbus forecasts a total of 40,850 new passenger and freighter aircraft deliveries over the next 20 years. The global demand for freighters is estimated at 2,510 between 2023 and 2042, with nearly 41% of these deliveries being single-aisle (10t-40t) aircraft, totalling 1,020.

In terms of sustainability, the GMF notes that all currently produced Airbus aircraft are capable of using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). By 2030, this capability is expected to increase. Notably, Airbus’ commercial aircraft products deliver at least 20% lower emissions than today’s fleet.
