Astral Aviation Completes Inaugural Flight from Guangzhou to Africa
New Guangzhou-Nairobi-Maputo freighter service on B767 launches
Astral Aviation (8V), a prominent cargo airline based in Nairobi, Kenya, has successfully launched its inaugural direct freighter flight connecting Guangzhou, China, and Africa.
The inaugural service, which took place on August 26, 2024, offers a connection from Guangzhou to Nairobi, with an onward leg to Maputo, Mozambique.
This expansion marks Astral Aviation’s entry into the Asian market and aims to strengthen trade and logistics links between Africa and China.
Boosting Cargo Transportation
Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO of Astral Aviation, expressed his enthusiasm for the new route:
“We are thrilled to commence our operations in China with this new service from Guangzhou. This route enhances connectivity between Asia and Africa and supports the increasing demand for reliable cargo transportation, facilitating the flow of essential goods and contributing to economic growth in both regions.”

Astral Aviation noted that the new route is part of its broader expansion strategy aimed at enhancing its global reach and providing unparalleled service to its clients.
The company plans to introduce additional routes soon, bridging the gap between key markets across Asia and Africa.
As reported, the route is being operated by a Boeing 767 Freighter aircraft, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of various goods, including perishable items, industrial products, and high-tech equipment.
