Astral Aviation (8V), a prominent cargo airline based in Nairobi, Kenya, has successfully launched its inaugural direct freighter flight connecting Guangzhou, China, and Africa.

The inaugural service, which took place on August 26, 2024, offers a connection from Guangzhou to Nairobi, with an onward leg to Maputo, Mozambique.

This expansion marks Astral Aviation’s entry into the Asian market and aims to strengthen trade and logistics links between Africa and China.

Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO of Astral Aviation, expressed his enthusiasm for the new route:

Astral Aviation noted that the new route is part of its broader expansion strategy aimed at enhancing its global reach and providing unparalleled service to its clients.

The company plans to introduce additional routes soon, bridging the gap between key markets across Asia and Africa.

As reported, the route is being operated by a Boeing 767 Freighter aircraft, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of various goods, including perishable items, industrial products, and high-tech equipment.
