Astral Aviation (8V) launched a new B757F scheduled direct service between Nairobi and Tel Aviv, Israel, on June 5, 2023.

The launch was marked by a ceremony at Astral’s Hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) attended by dignitaries and clients from the private sector.

Astral Aviation CEO Sanjeev Gadhia announced that the direct flight reduces the transit time for Kenyan perishables from 24 to 5 hours, ensuring freshness and quality.

Previously, these perishables were being routed via other hubs, including Istanbul, Addis Ababa and Dubai. On the return, it will enable exports from Israel to reach Africa via Nairobi.

Astral noted it is represented by Globespeed Ltd and handled by Maman / Laufer Aviation in Tel Aviv.

“The launch of these cargo flights marks a significant milestone in strengthening the economic ties between Kenya and Israel […] which will enhance trade opportunities between Kenya and Israel, benefiting our respective economies and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.”
