ATR Turboprop Market Forecast Highlights 240 Deliveries for Africa & Middle East by 2044
New routes, Fleet renewal, to drive regional turboprop demand in the next 20 years

Paris Air Show—The ATR Turboprop Market Forecast 2025-2044, released on June 18, 2025, projects 2,100 new passenger turboprops and 500 freighters to enter airline global fleets.
ATR states the market will prioritise “efficiency, connectivity, and sustainability,” with 8 in 10 deliveries expected to replace ageing aircraft.
Market Outlook: Fleet Renewal Leads 20-Year Forecast
ATR notes that turboprops have retired faster than they’ve been built in recent years, creating what it calls a “critical need for renewal.” Although traffic is growing, near-term deliveries remain constrained by aerospace production limitations.
Africa & Middle East: 240 Deliveries by 2044
In terms of regional demand, Africa and the Middle East are expected to see a total of 240 turboprop deliveries over the next 20 years (195 turboprops-70 seaters and 45 turboprops-50 seaters) driven by a GDP growth rate of 2.6% and a traffic growth rate of 4.2%.
Regional liberalisation efforts such as Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) are forecasted to drive demand.
ATR adds, “Turboprops will play a fundamental role in enabling convenient connections that link secondary to secondary gateways across the continent.”

New Routes, New Impact: 390 from Africa & Middle East
The forecast indicates a global demand for 770 new turboprop aircraft to serve new routes, with Africa and the Middle East accounting for 80 of these.
A total of 3,255 new routes are expected to be created by new turboprops, with 390 of these originating from the African and Middle Eastern regions. Enhanced connectivity is anticipated to yield substantial benefits for local communities.

The forecast notes: “Efficient air links promote trade, facilitate business travel, and foster expansion of knowledge-driven industries that thrive on global accessibility.”
