Maun International Airport Terminal, Botswana, was officially opened on January 20, 2023, by President Mokgweetsi Masisi – following its refurbishment & expansion.

The refurbishment and expansion works of the facility involved increasing the passenger terminal building capacity from 649 sq m to 2,209 sq m and upgrading the runway to handle large aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320. The government revealed the new facility is optimised to efficiently handle and process 270 passengers per hour, with plans to attain certification for the airport during the first quarter of 2023.

“Botswana cannot afford to lag in developing the capacity of its aviation services and the quality of its airports to accommodate increases in both passenger and air freight traffic.”
