EGYPTAIR and AerCap Deepen Strategic Partnership for Fleet Modernisation

Nearly 40% of EGYPTAIR’s fleet operates under leasing agreements with AerCap, supporting fleet expansion.

Aircraft leasing company AerCap and Egypt’s national carrier, EGYPTAIR, are strengthening their established strategic partnership to support EGYPTAIR’s fleet modernisation and expansion initiatives, EGYPTAIR announced.

On May 8, 2025, AerCap CEO Mr. Aengus Kelly met with Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, in Cairo to discuss new opportunities for collaboration. The discussions reportedly focused on providing advanced aircraft to enhance EGYPTAIR’s regional and global competitiveness.

The announcement noted that this meeting underscores AerCap’s commitment to EGYPTAIR’s growth strategy, with AerCap currently financing 28 aircraft in EGYPTAIR’s fleet, including Boeing B777-300ERs, Airbus A320/321neos, and Boeing B787-9s.

Discussions during the meeting addressed global aviation trends, including rising demand for aircraft leasing amidst delivery delays. The parties also explored future projects to align with EGYPTAIR’s plans to modernise its fleet with fuel-efficient, technologically advanced models.

In a statement, Mr. Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, described EGYPTAIR as a “key partner in Africa and the Middle East.”

He added that AerCap is “proud to support their ambitious growth strategy,” and that the collaboration “reflects a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring EGYPTAIR remains a leader in global aviation.”

Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, reportedly emphasised AerCap’s role as a strategic partner. He noted that nearly 40% of EGYPTAIR’s current fleet operates under leasing agreements with AerCap.

Captain Adel stated that “this partnership enables us to integrate cutting-edge aircraft, supporting our goals of operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and an elevated customer experience.”

The announcement also highlighted EGYPTAIR’s alignment with global trends toward sustainability, leveraging modern aircraft to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions while expanding its network to meet growing travel demand.
