EgyptAir Restarts Cairo-Lisbon Flights
Cairo-Lisbon service resumes with two weekly flights, starting July 23, 2024
EgyptAir (MS) has relaunched its direct service between Cairo, Egypt, and Lisbon, Portugal, marking the end of a 13-year hiatus.
The inaugural flight touched down at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport on July 23, 2024, where it was welcomed by a delegation including Egypt’s Ambassador to Portugal, Wael El Naggar, and embassy members, along with representatives from EgyptAir’s Madrid office, the Portuguese Airports Authority, and airport officials. The route was previously suspended in 2011.
Cairo-Lisbon Flight Schedule
The new service will operate twice weekly between Cairo International Airport (CAI) and Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer season. An increase in frequency is anticipated for the winter season.
Tourism Potential
The Egyptian government has expressed optimism that the restored route will open a new tourism market for Egypt, attracting visitors from Brazil, the United States, and Canada, which all have established connections to Lisbon Airport.
