Embraer announced on February 10, 2025, that its E-Freighter, the E190F, has been fully certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
With this latest approval, the E190F is now certified for global operations following full certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) in 2024.
Embraer highlighted that its E190F passenger-to-freighter conversion program, which began in May 2022, aims to fill a gap in the air cargo market and replace older, less efficient models.
Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer, of Embraer Commercial Aviation said, “We have developed the perfect aircraft to meet global demand for faster deliveries, not just to metro areas but to all regions.”
Key Features of the E190F
Embraer claims that E-Jets converted to freighters will provide over 40% more volume capacity, thrice the range of large cargo turboprops, and up to 30% lower operating costs than larger narrowbodies.
The maximum structural payload, combining underfloor and main deck capacities, is 13,500 kg for the E190F.
Embraer notes, “The E-Freighter meets the changing demands of e-commerce and modern trade, requiring rapid deliveries and decentralised operations, driving the demand for faster shipment deliveries to regional markets.”
