Emirates Marks 20-Year Milestone in Ghana
Emirates celebrates two decades of service in Ghana.
Emirates (EK) marked its 20th anniversary of service in Ghana in January 2024, having launched its first flight at Kotoka International Airport in 2004.
The airline began with three weekly flights using an A330-200 aircraft and has since expanded to a daily non-stop service between Accra and Dubai.
Over the past two decades, Emirates has transported more than 2 million passengers between Accra and Dubai for tourism and business purposes.
The airline has operated nearly 13,000 roundtrip flights, covering a total distance of 80.71 million kilometres.
A notable highlight was in 2018 when Emirates operated a special A380 flight to commemorate the launch of Ghana’s Terminal 3.

London, Chinese cities, Canada, Delhi, Sydney, Singapore, and Istanbul consistently rank among the most frequented destinations for outbound flights from Accra.
Feeder Markets
According to Emirates, travellers from these popular destinations, alongside those from Melbourne, Perth, and South Korea, contribute significantly to Accra’s passenger inflow.
