Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad Airways Sign Joint Business Agreement
Ethiopian starts Abu Dhabi flights in July 2025; Etihad launches Addis Ababa service October 2025

Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad Airways have announced the signing of a Joint Business Agreement on March 19, 2025.
In a joint statement, the airlines confirmed that the partnership includes a codeshare arrangement and the introduction of new routes between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi.
Joint Venture: Addis Ababa – Abu Dhabi Flights
As part of this agreement, Ethiopian Airlines will begin flights from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) to Zayed International Airport (AUH) on July 15, 2025, while Etihad Airways is set to launch daily flights to Addis Ababa starting October 1, 2025.
“Addis Ababa marks Etihad’s fifteenth new destination for 2025, Abu Dhabi becomes Ethiopian Airlines’ 145th global destination.”
The collaboration aims to enhance connectivity between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, Ethiopian Airlines notes, creating greater opportunities for travellers and businesses in these regions.
Ethiopian Airlines will operate the new route using its modern fleet, including the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350-1000.
