Etihad in Africa: More Flights to Kenya, Seychelles, Morocco; New Ethiopia Service to Launch
Nairobi flights double; New Etihad routes to Algiers & Addis Ababa; increased services across Africa by late 2025.

Etihad Airways (EY) announced on April 17, 2025, a significant expansion of its African network, including new routes and increased flight frequencies to meet the continent’s growing demand for air connectivity. The airline shared the details of its upcoming services:
Nairobi Doubles Flights
Etihad will double its services to Nairobi, Kenya, increasing from four to 14 weekly flights starting December 15, 2025. This announcement follows the airline’s recent resumption of flights to the Kenyan capital, which Etihad says underscores the route’s importance and strong demand.
Increased Etihad Services to Seychelles
In partnership with Air Seychelles, Etihad will expand its Abu Dhabi–Mahé services to six weekly flights beginning May 24, 2025. Passengers will also gain access to Praslin and Mauritius via Air Seychelles’ connections from Mahé.

The codeshare agreement ensures unified services, including consistent baggage policies, complimentary refreshments, and in-flight entertainment. Etihad Guest members can earn miles on these flights, the airline highlighted.
Daily Boeing 787 Services to Casablanca and Johannesburg
Starting August 1, 2025, Etihad will introduce daily Boeing 787 services—increasing to 7 flights per week—to Casablanca, Morocco, and Johannesburg, South Africa.The airline states that these enhanced frequencies aim to support the growing travel demand to two of Africa’s major business and tourism hubs.

Launch of Algiers, Tunis and Addis Ababa
North Africa: Algiers, Tunis and Al Alamein
In 2024, Etihad announced Algiers and Tunis as new destinations for 2025. Services to Algiers will operate four times a week starting November 7, 2025, while flights to Tunis will commence on November 1, 2025, with three weekly services.
Additionally in North Africa, Etihad plans seasonal services to Al Alamein, Egypt, with two weekly flights running from July 17 to September 14, 2025.
Addis Ababa
Etihad is set to debut a new route to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with seven weekly flights starting October 8, 2025. The launch follows the signing of a significant Joint Venture agreement with Ethiopian Airlines, which the airline states will tranform connectivity between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Strengthening African Partnerships
Etihad emphasised that its expanded African network is supported by strategic partnerships.
