flydubai Commits to USD 11 Billion Order for 30 Boeing 787-9s
flydubai diversifies its fleet with a commitment to purchase 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
Dubai Airshow 2023, (November 13) – flydubai (FZ) and Boeing have announced flydubai’s commitment to purchase 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, marking the airline’s first wide-body aircraft order.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and other dignitaries attended the signing ceremony.
This USD 11 billion order is part of flydubai’s fleet diversification strategy and will allow the airline to expand its long-haul network.
Strategic Move for flydubai
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, commented on the choice of aircraft, stating, “We are committed to offering the right product at the right time to cater to the changing market and customer needs. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner offers a perfect combination of operational excellence, fuel efficiency, as well as passenger appeal.”
flydubai noted it is currently evaluating engine options for its first Dreamliner order.
