The Department of Public Enterprises, South Africa (DPE) announced the appointment of an Interim Board of Directors for South African Airways (SAA).

The new board is chaired by Mr Derek Hanekom, former Minister of Tourism, with elected Board of Directors including Ms Fathima Gany, Ms Fundi Sithebe, Mr Mahlubi Mazwi, Adv Johannes Weapond, Prof John Lamola (while serving as Interim CEO), Ms Clarissa Appana, and Mr Dumisani Sangweni.

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Min.Pravin Gordhan outlined that the Interim Board, effective from April 15, 2023, will serve until the introuduction of the Strategic Equity Partner, Takatso Consortium – set to acquire a 51% controlling interest in SAA.
