FlySafair Boosts Fleet with Boeing 737-800
Second B737-800 leased from AELF in 2024 strengthens FlySafair's fleet.
South African low-cost carrier FlySafair (FA) has expanded its fleet with one Boeing 737-800 aircraft leased from Aircraft Engine Lease Finance, Inc. (AELF).
This transaction, financed by Investec Bank Limited (“Investec”), marks FlySafair’s commitment to modernising its fleet transitioning from 737-400s into a 737-800-focused fleet, as noted by AELF.
The leased aircraft, identified by its manufacturer’s serial number (MSN) 40972, is a 2016-built Boeing 737-800. This marks the second 737-800 leased to FlySafair by AELF in 2024, as announced by AELF on October 21, 2024.
Strengthening Partnerships in African Aviation
Commenting on the new lease agreement, Joe Cirillo, Chief Commercial Officer of AELF, highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to acquire and lease 737-NG aircraft. He expressed appreciation to Investec and congratulated FlySafair on the fleet expansion.
“Our thanks to Investec and congratulations to the team at FlySafair on the addition to its fleet,” Cirillo said, acknowledging the collaboration between South African companies in this transaction (seller, lender, and lessee).
