Gulfstream has announced on April 16, 2025, that its brand-new G800, which the company describes as the ‘world’s longest-range business aircraft,’ has received type certification from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Gulfstream confirmed upon certification that the G800 delivers greater performance capabilities than originally anticipated. According to Gulfstream, these certifications confirm enhanced performance for the aircraft.

As the company detailed, the G800 now offers a range of 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometres) at its long-range cruise speed, an increase of 200 nautical miles over original projections.

The aircraft can also travel 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometres) at its high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90 or an unprecedented 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 kilometres) at Mach 0.87

Furthermore, Gulfstream reported that the aircraft’s maximum operating speed has increased to Mach 0.935 from Mach 0.925. The manufacturer also highlighted the G800’s improved runway performance.

As Gulfstream outlined, the aircraft was certified with a balanced field length takeoff distance of 5,812 feet (1,771 metres) and a landing distance of 3,105 feet (946 metres) (standard ISA day, sea level), both shorter than initially announced, “giving customers access to more airports.”

The company attributes the G800’s “ultralong range, high-speed performance and enhanced fuel-efficiency” to the combination of Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and the Gulfstream-designed aerodynamic wing and winglet, positioning it for a “seamless G800 entry into service as U.S. and European customer deliveries begin.”
