Kenya Airways Boosts Dar es Salaam Flights, Upgrades Johannesburg and Cape Town Routes
KQ unveils African network adjustments for the peak season
Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced adjustments to flight schedules for the peak season, including increased frequencies, aircraft upgrades, and route suspensions.
Martin Gitonga, Kenya Airways’ Head of Network Planning and Alliances, stated that these network adjustments are part of the airline’s business continuity plan, designed to optimise operations and meet customer demands effectively.
KQ’s African Network Adjustments
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania:
Effective July 1, 2024, Kenya Airways operates daily midday flights, with additional flights on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Johannesburg, South Africa
Effective August 1, 2024, five weekly nighttime flights will be upgraded to Boeing 787 Dreamliner as part of Kenya Airways’ 26 weekly flights to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Cape Town, South Africa
Starting August 1, 2024, all three weekly non-stop Nairobi to Cape Town flights will be upgraded to Boeing 787 Dreamliner, featuring 30 full lie-flat business class seats and 204 economy seats.
Douala, Cameroon
Effective August 11, 2024, all 5 weekly flights to Douala, Cameroon will be operated non-stop from Nairobi and back without a tag, offering shorter flight time and better connectivity through Nairobi and beyond.
Bangui, Central Africa Republic
Effective August 9, 2024, Kenya Airways will halt its 5 weekly flights to Bangui, Central Africa Republic. The cargo service will not be affected by the suspension.
Kenya Airways has stated that passengers with bookings on affected flights to or from Bangui will be contacted to arrange alternative travel options, including rebooking, refunds, or rerouting.
