Kenya Airways Restarts Nonstop Flights to Mogadishu
Kenya Airways reintroduces nonstop Mogadishu flights from February 15, 2023.
Resumption of Nonstop Flights
Kenya Airways (KQ) has resumed nonstop flights to Mogadishu, Somalia, effective February 15, 2024.
The service to Somalia will operate from Terminal 2 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, Mogadishu (MGQ), with a frequency of three times a week.
Nairobi-Mogadishu Route
KQ initially introduced flights to Mogadishu in December 2018, but suspended the route due to the pandemic.
However, following the signing of a bilateral air services agreement between Kenya and Somalia in August 2023, direct flights were resumed.
Smoother Connections
Kenya Airways highlighted that the resumed direct flights will streamline travel, reduce flight times, and improve connections between Nairobi and Mogadishu – benefiting business travellers, the Somali diaspora, and NGOs.
