Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM), Mozambique’s national flag carrier, is no longer insolvent. The airline has recovered a debt of US$47.3 million owed to the State and private entities since April 2023, according to a statement by LAM’s management committee at a press conference on May 29, 2023.

As part of its restructuring efforts, LAM has been managed by Fly Modern Ark, a South African company, since April 2023. There are plans to relaunch some routes, including Maputo-Lisbon, and subsequently launch flights to São Paulo, Guangzhou, Mumbai, and Dubai. LAM also plans to increase its current fleet to 14 aircraft.
