Madagascar Airlines Adds New ATR72 Aircraft as Part of Phénix 2030 Plan
The new aircraft landed on April 2, 2025, advancing the Phénix 2030 plan.

Madagascar Airlines (MD) welcomed its second ATR72 aircraft in three months, marking another step in its Phénix 2030 recovery strategy.
The airline hosted a ceremony on April 2, 2025, attended by government officials and industry stakeholders, emphasising its commitment to fleet modernisation and improved passenger experience.
Madagascar Airlines outlined that the Phénix 2030 plan, aimed at transforming Malagasy aviation, includes fleet renovation-expansion-and-standardising, digital upgrades, and a renewed focus on domestic and international connectivity.
The new ATR72 is part of broader efforts to enhance operational efficiency, refine maintenance programs, and strengthen strategic partnerships—including an alliance with Air France.
As part of this strategy, Madagascar Airlines stated it is also establishing a hub at Ivato “to facilitate international connections and tourism development.”
The airline emphasised its commitment to long-term growth, stating, “We are aware of the challenges ahead but remain determined to pursue our transformation with rigour and perseverance. We thank our partners, teams, and all those who contribute to this renaissance.”
