Malawi’s Rayoni Tourism Airline Granted Air Operator Certificate (AOC)
AOC paves way for scheduled, unscheduled, and charter flights.
Rayoni Holdings Limited, a Malawian tourism, aviation, and hospitality company, announced on June 4, 2024, that it has been granted an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the Malawi Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Operations Launch and Fleet
The AOC allows Rayoni Tourism Airline, the commercial airline brand operating under the certificate, to offer scheduled, unscheduled, and charter flights within Malawi and potentially beyond its borders.
In a statement, the company outlined it is currently finalising procedures for launching its inaugural flights, expected to take place in the coming months. Details regarding the airline’s fleet composition have not yet been disclosed.
Boosting Tourism and Economic Growth
Rayoni Holdings Limited emphasised its commitment to “contributing to the growth and development of the aviation industry in Malawi, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.”
The company also stated its dedication to promoting tourism in Malawi, particularly showcasing the beauty of the northern region and its rich cultural heritage.
Malawi’s Tourism Ministry remarked:
“This development represents a significant step forward for Malawi tourism, addressing some of the challenges faced by tourists in reaching and exploring Malawi […] we look forward to a collaborative effort in promoting Malawi as a tourist destination.”
