Maldivian Launches 4 New Routes to China
Maldivian adds Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Xi'an routes starting 2025
Maldivian (Q2) has launched four new direct routes to China, connecting Malé to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Xi’an, starting in January 2025.
In a statement, the airline revealed, these new services will be operated by the airline’s recently acquired Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The launch event in Beijing, attended by key stakeholders from both nations, marked a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between the Maldives and China. Maldivian emphasised a “commitment to enhancing tourism between our beautiful islands and China.”
A330 Propels Maldivian’s International Expansion
On the occasion of signing the lease agreement for the A330-200 with TrueNoord, Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian, stated:
“The A330 will be instrumental in expanding our international network, creating new opportunities for tourism and trade in the region.”
Maldivian’s A330-200 wide-body aircraft, configured in three classes – business, premium economy, and economy class cabins, will enhance the airline’s long-haul operations.
