Skytrax’s Best Airports 2025: Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg Lead Africa
Singapore Changi Tops the Global Rankings, Africa’s Airports Shine in Regional Categories

The 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards have named Cape Town International Airport the Best Airport in Africa, securing its reputation as a leading aviation hub on the continent.
Cape Town also claimed additional accolades for Best Airport Staff in Africa and Cleanest Airport in Africa.
Other African airports recognised include Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport and Durban King Shaka International Airport, ranked second and third, respectively.
Durban was further recognised as Best Regional Airport in Africa, while InterContinental OR Tambo won Best Airport Hotel in Africa.

Global Winners: Changi Airport Takes the Top Spot
Singapore Changi Airport has been named World’s Best Airport 2025 at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Madrid—its 13th win in the award’s history. It also received recognition for Best Airport Dining, Best Airport Washrooms, and Best Airport in Asia.

Meanwhile, Doha’s Hamad International Airport ranked second, securing awards for Best Airport Shopping and Best Airport in the Middle East, followed by Tokyo Haneda International Airport, ranked third globally.
Skytrax: A Passenger-Driven Ranking
According to Skytrax, the World Airport Awards are based on customer surveys across more than 575 airports, evaluating passenger experiences from check-in to departure.
The organisation states that the 2025 rankings were compiled from feedback spanning 100 nationalities, collected between August 2024 and February 2025.
Skytrax positions itself as a leading global benchmark for airport quality, assessing service, cleanliness, and efficiency.
