South African Airways (SA) has announced the launch of a new route to Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire, marking its 12th destination on the African continent.

Inaugural Flight: Johannesburg to Abidjan

The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart from Johannesburg on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The route will be operated using the airline’s A330-300, equipped with full-lie flat business class seats.

Flight Schedule

SAA plans to operate three weekly flights to Félix Houphouët Boigny International Airport in Abidjan. Flights will depart Johannesburg on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 11h00, arriving in Abidjan at 17h00, with a 55-minute stopover in Accra.

Airfreight Link

In a statement, South African Airways highlighted that the new route will also facilitate an airfreight link between Accra, Abidjan, and Johannesburg, thereby strengthening trade connections within the SAA network.

“Our decision to implement a service to Abidjan is based on a rigorous analysis of the viability of the route, with sustainability at the heart of our strategic approach since our restart.”
