South African Airways (SA) has restarted service between Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania effective January 20, 2025.

SAA Interim CEO, Professor Lamola, said the relaunch represents SAA’s strategic initiative to strengthen the airline’s presence across Africa.

“It brings together industries, communities, and resources, enabling us to unlock greater prosperity, foster collaboration, and generate new opportunities for trade, investment, and development for both our economies, and for the people of South Africa and Tanzania.”

Johannesburg-Dar es Salaam Flight Schedule

  • Flight SA188: Departs OR Tambo International Airport at 22:00hrs (SAST), arrives at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam at 02:30hrs (EAT). Operates daily.
  • Flight SA189: Departs Julius Nyerere International Airport at 05:10hrs (EAT), arrives in Johannesburg at 07:55hrs (SAST). Operates daily.

Lamola outlined that the schedule of seven weekly return flights is designed to accommodate both point-to-point and connecting passengers.
