TAAG's first B787-9 boosts widebody fleet capacity.
TAAG Angola Airlines (DT) has welcomed its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registration D2-TEQ, named ‘Namibe.’
The new aircraft arrived in Luanda on January 30, 2025, to a ceremony attended by officials, including Minister Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu of Angola’s Ministry of Transport.
The 787 was acquired under a sale and leaseback agreement with AerCap and is one of four units set to upgrade the carrier’s widebody fleet, boosting its capacity to serve key international destinations.
Focus on Strategic Collaboration
Minister D’Abreu remarked: “This partnership reflects the trust that one of the world’s largest companies [Boeing; AerCap] places in Angola.
The renewal of our flagship company’s fleet, along with qualified technical assistance and on-the-job professional training for Angolan staff, underscores international confidence in Angola’s potential. These strategic collaborations benefit our national economy.”
Celebrating Angola’s Independence with the Dreamliner
TAAG announced it is celebrating the country’s 50th anniversary of independence (1975-2025) by displaying a commemorative logo on the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The company’s B787-9 aircraft features a rebranded livery that embodies Angola’s heritage. The Palanca is visible on the aircraft’s tail and engine fuselage.
