Uganda Airlines (UR) has added an Airbus A320-200 on wet lease from DAT, a Lithuanian airline based in Karmelava.

The A320 will supplement the airline’s CRJ and A330 fleet, enhancing its operational efficiency for the winter schedule. Uganda Airlines highlighted that this lease will help resolve operational challenges on routes like Johannesburg and Kinshasa, where capacity limitations have hindered efficient operations.

It will also augment services to Nairobi, Lagos, and Abuja, and support the carrier in maintaining schedule integrity during regional fleet maintenance.

The A320 has a capacity of 156 seats in a two-class cabin configuration, with 12 business class seats and 144 economy seats.

Enhancing Operational Capacity

Uganda Airlines’ Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki, stated:

With the new lease, we shall continue to increase capacity deployment for the number of seats on specific routes to sustain this demand.

“Leasing this A320 is intended to cushion the operation, especially in the festive season, as travel tends to spike due to leisure and business travel.

“We also look forward to enhanced cargo freighting for our customers.”
