Uganda Airlines Inaugurates Direct Flights to London Gatwick
Direct Entebbe-London Gatwick service operates four times weekly on Airbus A330-800neo.

Uganda Airlines has commenced non-stop flights between Entebbe International Airport (EBB) and London Gatwick (LGW), following recent route expansions to Abuja, Lusaka, and Harare.
The first flight departed Entebbe at 09:25 AM local time on 18 May 2025, arriving at London Gatwick at 4:55 PM, according to the airline.
The route operates four times weekly: Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights depart Entebbe mornings, returning from Gatwick same day.
The service is operated by Uganda Airlines’ Airbus A330-800neo, making it the first carrier to fly the aircraft into London Gatwick.

In a statement, Uganda Airlines expressed enthusiasm, emphasising that “this flight symbolises our commitment to sustainable aviation.”

Boost for Trade & Tourism
Uganda’s Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Gen. Katumba Wamala, stated that the direct service is expected to enhance business, investment, and tourism by reducing travel time and eliminating layovers.
He emphasised the potential for increased British tourist arrivals, enabling access to Uganda’s diverse attractions—from mountain gorillas to the source of the Nile.
Regional Connectivity
According to Uganda Airlines CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki, the new route strategically connects Uganda to a major global hub, with return flights synchronised to facilitate passenger connections across its growing African network
“This service links passengers from London to key destinations across East, Central, and West Africa,” she noted.
