Training Service Agreement to boost Zambia's aviation compliance and safety

The Zambia Civil Aviation Authority (ZCAA) has signed a Training Service Agreement on Managing Compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), according to a statement released by the ZCAA.

This agreement was formalised during the ongoing ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium in Abu Dhabi on February 11, 2025.

ICAO SARPs Training Highlights

The agreement, signed by ICAO Secretary General Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, will enable ICAO to provide instructor-led training to Zambia CAA on Managing Compliance with ICAO SARPs.

The ZCAA reports that the course is designed to address the training needs of aviation personnel, aiming to develop competencies for the staff of ZCAA and relevant aviation stakeholders in Zambia.

This initiative, the ZCAS states, will enhance the safety and security oversight of Zambia’s aviation industry, allowing senior and middle managers to plan, manage, and continuously monitor the implementation of ICAO SARPs.

The course will also emphasise collaboration between CAA and the industry to set SMART parameters for assessing operators.
