The 2nd UN Tourism and ICAO Ministerial Conference on Tourism and Air Transport in Africa is scheduled for July 22-24, 2025, at the InterContinental Luanda Miramar in Luanda, Angola.
The event, hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), UN Tourism, and the Government of Angola, aims to address the synergy between tourism and air transport, which are crucial for economic growth on the continent.
In 2024, Africa recorded 74 million international arrivals, a 12 per cent increase from 2023, highlighting the importance of these sectors.
The Conference will include an Expert Workshop on July 22, with objectives that align with the UN 2030 Agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063. Key goals include:
- Identify challenges and opportunities to enhance air connectivity and seamless travel across Africa.
- Strengthen dialogue between tourism and air transport stakeholders to address key business imperatives.
- Encourage political commitment to integrating tourism and air transport priorities into national and regional agendas.
