The Democratic Republic of the Congo will host the inaugural World Music and Tourism Festival in Kinshasa from July 16 to 18, 2025.
Under the patronage of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and in collaboration with UN Tourism, the Festival aims to promote the DRC as a vibrant cultural destination, connecting music and tourism through Congolese Rumba, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Festival will feature performances across four musical expressions: Traditional, Urban, Folk, and Rumba.
It will also host roundtables addressing music as a unifying force, copyright issues & intellectual property, the dynamisation of destinations and the role of youth in promoting musical heritage.
This event seeks to integrate music into the tourism sector, highlighting the importance of cultural and creative industries in driving sustainable economic opportunities.
