Embraer exhibited its EMB-203 Ipanema, a widely used agricultural aircraft in Brazil, at the 30th Agrishow, held in Ribeirão Preto (SP) from 28 April to 2 May 2025.

The EMB-203 Ipanema remains the only aircraft certified and produced in series to operate on biofuel, according to Embraer.

Powered by ethanol, the cropduster combines tradition, robustness, and efficiency to optimise aerial bio-control agent applications for crop management.

Agrishow as a Platform for Agricultural Aviation

Sany Onofre, Embraer’s Agricultural Aviation leader, highlighted the significance of the event:

Agrishow, one of the largest agricultural fairs in the world and the largest in Brazil, is a great opportunity for producers looking for solutions that deliver higher productivity and lower costs for their crops.

And in agricultural aviation, the ethanol-powered Ipanema 203 is a strong ally for these needs.

Performance and Productivity in the Field

With a wide range of optional equipment, the ethanol-powered Ipanema 203 achieves the efficiency equivalent to four ground sprayers operating simultaneously, notes Embraer.

The aircraft sprays over 200 hectares per hour, delivering high-quality applications without soil compaction or pest spread by contact, potentially yielding up to 15 additional bags per hectare.

Embraer outlined that, “With more than 180 units sold in the last three years, the aircraft continues to be the preferred choice among rural producers.”
