British Airways Opens Applications for Speedbird Pilot Academy

British Airways (BA) has announced the return of its Speedbird Pilot Academy program for a second year.

The program offers fully-funded flight training for aspiring commercial airline pilots.

Launched in 2023, the Speedbird Pilot Academy aims to address the financial barrier often associated with pilot training.

The program covers the approximate £100,000 cost of training for successful candidates.

According to British Airways’ Director of Flight Operations, Simon Cheadle, the program’s first year received a significant number of applications, highlighting the high level of interest in the aviation industry as a career path.

We’re incredibly proud to be able to open the door to a flying career to more people through this programme,” Cheadle said in a statement. “We want to continue to attract the very best flying talent and our investment in this programme will help to ensure our future generation of pilots for years to come.”

Those interested in applying for the Speedbird Pilot Academy program can find more information and submit applications on the British Airways careers website starting April 16, 2024.
