Emirates Celebrates a Decade of A380 Service to Mauritius
Emirates marks ten years of daily A380 service to Mauritius, carrying over five million passengers.
Emirates (EK) marked the tenth anniversary of its daily A380 service to Mauritius. When the service launched in 2013, Mauritius became the first A380 destination in Africa.
A Decade of A380 Service to Mauritius
Over the past ten years, Emirates has conducted close to 12,000 flights between Mauritius and its global network, carrying over five million passengers.
As highlighted by Emirates, these flights were serviced by the A380, the world’s largest commercial aircraft.
Emirates noted that due to high demand, it increased its A380 operations to a double-daily service within a year of its 2014 launch.
This expansion in service capacity has reportedly contributed to the growth of Mauritius’s tourism industry.
“The Emirates A380 has set new levels of comfort and service in the air and, ten years after its first flight, remains a benchmark in the industry. Mauritius is therefore delighted to celebrate these ten years of operations with Emirates and we look forward to our continued strong partnership in the years ahead,” said Honorable Steven Obeegadoo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism.
