Emirates (EK) has launched its unique capsule collection of luggage, bags, and accessories made from upcycled materials from retrofitted aircraft.

The limited-edition range, set to go on sale in 2024, includes suitcases, backpacks, handbags, cardholders, toiletry bags, belts, and shoes.

In a statement, Emirates outlined that the items are designed and handmade by their tailors in a dedicated cabin workshop at the Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai.

Repurposing For A Sustainable Future

Emirates has repurposed a variety of materials from its flagship A380 and B777 aircraft to create a collection of luggage and bags, including high-quality pure leather from First Class Seats, seat fabrics of 95% wool, pure leather from the Captain’s seats, aluminium headrests, and seatbelts.

“We knew these materials could be given a second life, because they are originally of very high quality. We challenged our team to be as creative and innovative as possible, and here we are, with our own accessories workshop in Emirates Engineering Centre!”

Ahmed Safa, Emirates’ Divisional SVP for Engineering

The airline noted all the fabrics are freshly laundered, deep cleaned by hand, leather-conditioned if required, and thoroughly disinfected before being sewn into unique pieces.

Contribution To The Community

Emirates announced that all proceeds from the sale of these items in Emirates Official Stores will be donated to children in need, via the Emirates Airline Foundation. A collection of bags and accessories will be showcased at the Emirates stand during the Dubai Airshow at DWC, from November 13-17, 2023.
