On June 7th, 2023, Ibom Air (QI) celebrated its fourth anniversary since its inaugural flight from Uyo to Lagos, Nigeria. The West African carrier was established by the Government of Akwa Ibom State and currently operates a fleet of five Bombardier CRJ 900s and two Airbus A320s on nine routes to seven destinations.

In a statement, Ibom Air’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. George Uriesi, highlighted the company’s recent milestones and future plans – including obtaining IOSA certification, launching a new ultra-modern hub terminal in Uyo, and commencing aircraft maintenance at a brand-new MRO facility in Uyo. The airline also plans to expand its fleet with brand new Airbus A220-300. According to Mr. Uriesi, these developments are part of the company’s preparations to expand its network into West and Central Africa in the second half of 2023.
