Madagascar Airlines Rejoins IATA

Madagascar Airlines returns to IATA and is reportedly planning to lease ATR 72 turboprops.

Madagascar Airlines has rejoined IATA with the designator “MD” and code 258 after a six-year absence.

The airline has been named as one of the eight new members to join IATA in 2024 by the airline association.

This renewed membership marks a significant development for Madagascar Airlines as it undergoes restructuring.

Fleet Restructuring

In addition to rejoining IATA, Madagascar Airlines is reportedly taking further steps towards fleet restructuring by planning to lease two new ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft from ACIA Aero Leasing, as reported by CAPA
