Madagascar Airlines has rejoined IATA with the designator “MD” and code 258 after a six-year absence.
The airline has been named as one of the eight new members to join IATA in 2024 by the airline association.
This renewed membership marks a significant development for Madagascar Airlines as it undergoes restructuring.
IATA emphasises its membership offers a range of benefits, including: global recognition and advocacy; industry leadership; cost savings, and enhanced capabilities.
Fleet Restructuring
In addition to rejoining IATA, Madagascar Airlines is reportedly taking further steps towards fleet restructuring by planning to lease two new ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft from ACIA Aero Leasing, as reported by CAPA
